''Monolithic Baby!'' is the sixth studio album by Monster Magnet, released in 2004. It is a follow up to 2000's ''God Says No''. It would also be the first album featuring bassist Jim Baglino and drummer Bob Pantella, although Michael Wildwood recorded all drum parts on this album. It reached #13 in the German Charts.
Unlike God Says No more psychedelic approach, Monolithic Baby! was a more of a return to mainstream rock for the band. The album features three cover songs. The first is a cover of "There's No Way Out of Here" which was written by Ken Baker of the band Unicorn. This song was originally titled "No Way Out of Here," and released on the Unicorn album Too Many Crooks in 1976. It is often mis-credited to David Gilmour as he produced the song for Unicorn, and subsequently covered it himself on his 1978 self-titled album. The second is a cover of Robert Calvert's "The Right Stuff" from his 1974 concept album, ''Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters''. The final one is a cover of the Velvet Underground's "Venus in Furs", which is only available on the US edition of the album. - Wikipedia
